Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for sharing thoughts, no matter how banal (as every column I have ever written rather sadly proves). Humans will always babble. If someone wants to tweet that they can’t decide whether to wear blue socks or brown socks, then fair enough. But when sharing becomes automated, I get the heebie-jeebies.

Indeed. Never need quite understand the reasons why people felt it necessary to bare their entire lives on Facebook (more so because I don’t have an account myself). The cynical side of me always presumes that it is a matter of self preservation for a fragile ego.

I was blindfolded in a makeshift prison, who knows where. I’d been there for six or seven days, and was beginning to lose hope. I thought of my wife and kids, and began to question why I’d got involved, why I’d returned to my homeland. I didn’t think I’d ever get out, but I knew this was a cause worth dying for. I thought to myself, it doesn’t matter whether you live to 30 or 70, it’s what you do with those years.
