Whilst attempting to sleep in the insufferable heat, I ended up watching Fröken Sverige (Miss Sweden) on SBS last night. I had seen it some years ago, and it was actually one of the first times I heard Jose Gonzalez’s Heartbeats. It’s a quirky little film, and whilst it won’t revolutionise your world, it was enough to keep me more than sufficiently entertained.

Watching doco on SBS about the US Military base in Subic Bay

…specifically how the poverty stricken communities who live around the area have been “allegedly” poisoned by the waste left by the US Military. The doco also explores potential implications for joint US-Australian military exercises in QLD.

The devastating effect (including an increased rate of childhood cancers and birth defects) of the toxic waste is heartbreaking, and the willing inaction of both the Filipino and American governments leaves you with a seething anger.

Here’s the Top Gear Australia sizzle reel.

Since it’s the first localised production outside of the UK, I’m going to make sure my expectations are kept nice and low.

No offence.
