Education is worth pursuing in its own right, (it) offers considerable intrinsic non-pecuniary benefits. When we lose sight of those intrinsic benefits - knowledge for its own sake - we get muddled between means and ends. The irony is that when we allow ourselves to view higher education as little more than better meal ticket, we impoverish ourselves.
